How storefronts work

RuleValueNote
Storefront = Apple Account country
A user sees one storefront, set by the country of their Apple Account. Your app is listed per storefront you make it available in.
Availability
In App Store Connect, Pricing and Availability lets you include or exclude each storefront independently.
Metadata language
Listing text is stored per localization, not per country. Several storefronts share one localization.
Primary language fallback
A storefront with no matching localization shows your primary language.
Currency
Apple converts your base price to each storefront currency. Some storefronts bill in USD.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an App Store storefront?

A storefront is the country-specific version of the App Store, determined by the country of the user's Apple Account. Each has its own availability, pricing currency, charts, and search results.

Is a storefront the same as a language?

No. Listing text is stored per localization, and many storefronts share one. Belgium, for example, can show Dutch or French, and the Latin American storefronts mostly share Spanish (Mexico). Pick the localization that best covers the storefront.

Which storefront code do I use in API URLs?

The iTunes Search and Lookup APIs and App Store URLs take the lowercase ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code, for example apps.apple.com/us/ or the country=de parameter. The table lists both alpha-2 and alpha-3.

Does this list every App Store country?

No. It covers the largest app markets by region (about 50 storefronts). Apple lists the full set of supported countries and regions in App Store Connect Help, and it changes over time.

Which localizations should I add first?

Start with the localizations that cover the most storefronts in your target regions, then add single-market languages such as Japanese, Korean, and German where your analytics show demand.
