iPhone screenshot ratios
| Class | Ratio | CSS aspect-ratio | Group | Status | Design tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
iPhone 6.9"
iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro Max +2
tall-19.5-9 | Required | Design your master template at 1320×2868. This is the required base — Apple scales it down to every other iPhone class, so getting this canvas right covers the whole fleet. |
iPhone 6.5"
iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 13 Pro Max +2
tall-19.5-9 | Optional | Within 0.4% of the 6.9" ratio — Apple's auto-scale handles this class with no visible crop or letterbox from the 6.9" master. |
iPhone 6.3"
iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 +1
tall-19.5-9 | Optional | Same design group as 6.9" — no separate canvas needed. |
iPhone 6.1"
iPhone 17e, iPhone 16e +3
tall-19.5-9 | Optional | Same design group as 6.9" — no separate canvas needed. |
iPhone 5.5"
iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7 Plus +1
std-16-9 | Optional | Exactly 16:9 — noticeably squarer than the 19.5:9 modern class. A straight scale-down from a 6.9" master will letterbox top/bottom; design a dedicated canvas if you still support this legacy class. |
iPhone 4.7"
iPhone SE (3rd gen), iPhone SE (2nd gen) +1
std-16-9 | Optional | Same 16:9 group as 5.5" — shares one legacy canvas. |
iPhone 4.0"
iPhone SE (1st gen), iPhone 5s +1
std-16-9 | Optional | Same 16:9 group as 5.5" — shares one legacy canvas. |
iPhone 3.5"
iPhone 4s, iPhone 4
legacy-3-2 | Optional | The squarest iPhone class ever shipped — only relevant if you still submit for the oldest baseline. Needs its own canvas. |
iPad screenshot ratios
| Class | Ratio | CSS aspect-ratio | Group | Status | Design tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
iPad 13"
iPad Pro (M5), iPad Pro (M4) +1
ipad-4-3 | Required | The required iPad canvas — a clean 4:3. Far squarer than any iPhone class, so iPad screenshots need their own template, not a stretched iPhone one. |
iPad 12.9"
iPad Pro 12.9" (2nd–5th gen)
ipad-4-3 | Optional | Same 4:3 group as 13" — no separate canvas needed. |
iPad 11"
iPad Pro 11" (M5), iPad Pro 11" (M4) +2
ipad-3-2 | Optional | Noticeably taller/narrower than the 13"/12.9" 4:3 class — a 4:3 master will letterbox on this class. Worth its own canvas if iPad mini / iPad Air traffic is significant. |
iPad 10.5"
iPad Pro 10.5", iPad Air (3rd gen) +1
ipad-4-3 | Optional | Same 4:3 group as 13" — no separate canvas needed. |
iPad 9.7"
iPad Pro 9.7", iPad Air 2 +1
ipad-4-3 | Optional | Same 4:3 group as 13" — no separate canvas needed. |
Apple Watch screenshot ratios
| Class | Ratio | CSS aspect-ratio | Group | Status | Design tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Apple Watch Ultra 3
Apple Watch Ultra 3
watch-6-5 | Required | Required watchOS canvas. All watch classes cluster around 6:5 — much squarer than any phone or tablet ratio, so watch screenshots always need a dedicated template. |
Apple Watch Series 11 / 10
Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Series 10
watch-6-5 | Optional | Same design group as Ultra 3 — reuse one watch canvas across classes. |
Apple Watch Series 9 / 8 / 7
Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 8 +1
watch-6-5 | Optional | Same design group as Ultra 3 — reuse one watch canvas across classes. |
Mac, Apple TV & Apple Vision Pro
| Platform | Ratio | CSS aspect-ratio | Group | Status | Design tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Mac
MacBook, iMac +3
mac-16-10 | Required | macOS is the only Apple platform at 16:10, not 16:9 — a 16:9 landscape master (TV/Vision Pro) will letterbox. Design Mac screenshots on their own 16:10 canvas. |
Apple TV
Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD
wide-16-9 | Required | Standard UHD 16:9 — shares a canvas with Vision Pro and Android TV. |
Apple Vision Pro
Apple Vision Pro
wide-16-9 | Required | Same 16:9 group as Apple TV, despite the very different device — reuse the wide landscape canvas. |
Google Play screenshot ratios
| Class | Ratio | CSS aspect-ratio | Group | Status | Design tip |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Play — Phone
Android phones
play-flexible | Required | Google Play does not enforce one fixed ratio — only that the long side is ≤ 2× the short side. 1080×1920 (9:16) is the de facto recommended canvas and matches most iPhone screenshots closely enough to reuse layout logic. |
Play — Tablet
7"/10" Android tablets
play-flexible | Optional | Same flexible ratio rule as phone. Tablet-optimized screenshots are ranked higher on tablet devices, so it is worth a dedicated shoot even at the same aspect ratio. |
Play — Wear OS
Wear OS watches
square-1-1 | Required | The only square-required class across both stores. Cannot reuse any phone/tablet/TV canvas. |
Play — Android TV
Android TV
wide-16-9 | Required | Same 16:9 group as Apple TV / Vision Pro — a single wide landscape template covers all three. |
Why "design canvas groups" matter more than exact pixels
Every App Store and Play screenshot class has its own exact pixel dimensions (see our full sizes chart), but you don't need a separate Figma canvas for each one. What actually matters is the aspect ratio group — device classes within the same group scale onto each other with zero visible crop or letterbox. Classes in different groups will crop content or add empty bars if you just resize.
The practical rule: design one master canvas per group above (7 groups total across every Apple + Play + common social placement), not one per device class (25+ classes). That's the difference between building 7 templates and building 25.

What aspect ratio should I design App Store screenshots at?
For iPhone, design at 19.5:9 (the 1320×2868 iPhone 6.9" canvas) — it is the required base and Apple auto-scales it to every other iPhone class with no visible crop. For iPad, design at 4:3 (2064×2752). These are two separate canvases; stretching one to fit the other will crop or letterbox.
Is the iPhone screenshot aspect ratio the same on every model?
No, but they cluster into two groups. Modern iPhones (6.9", 6.5", 6.3", 6.1") are all within 0.5% of 19.5:9. Older Plus-era and legacy iPhones (5.5", 4.7", 4.0") are a squarer, exact 16:9. A single template scaled across both groups will letterbox on one of them.
What aspect ratio is an iPad screenshot?
A clean 4:3 for the 13", 12.9", 10.5", and 9.7" classes. The 11" class (iPad Pro 11", iPad Air, iPad mini) is narrower at roughly 3:2 and will letterbox if you scale a 4:3 master onto it.
What aspect ratio does Google Play require for screenshots?
Google Play does not enforce a fixed ratio — only that the long side is at most 2× the short side. The de facto recommended canvas is 1080×1920 (9:16 portrait) or 1920×1080 (16:9 landscape).
What is the aspect ratio of an Apple Watch screenshot?
Roughly 6:5 (portrait-only) across every watch case size — 422×514 on Watch Ultra 3 down to 396×484 on Series 9/8/7. This is far squarer than any phone or tablet ratio, so watch screenshots always need their own template.
Can I reuse one screenshot template across iPhone, iPad, and Mac?
Not directly. iPhone is ~19.5:9, iPad is 4:3, and Mac is 16:10 — three distinct shapes. Apple TV and Vision Pro do share one 16:9 landscape canvas with each other and with Android TV, so that group is reusable.
What aspect ratio should I crop an App Store screenshot to for Instagram or TikTok?
For Instagram Stories, Reels, and TikTok, 9:16 (1080×1920) is the target — it is nearly identical to the legacy iPhone 16:9 screenshot group, making it the easiest App Store asset to repurpose as-is. For a square feed post, use 1:1 and expect to crop out significant top/bottom content from a tall iPhone screenshot.
