Adding languages to your project
Pick your target App Store locales and generate translated versions of every screenshot page.
You design a screenshot set once in a source language, then add target languages. Shotlingo keeps one layout and swaps the text, so a design change on the source propagates instead of forcing you to redo 40 files.
Add targets
- 1 Open the Languages tab in the left sidebar.
- 2 Select the locales you are shipping to. Shotlingo covers 41 languages, matching the locales App Store Connect and Google Play accept.
- 3 Confirm. Every text block on every page now has a slot for each target.
- 4 Switch between languages from the same tab to preview each version on the canvas.
Which languages to start with
If you are localizing for the first time, start where the download volume already is rather than translating everything at once. For most indie apps that means Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. Add more once you can see which locales convert.
Watch for text expansion
Translated text is rarely the same length as the original. German and Russian commonly run longer, while Japanese and Chinese run shorter. Preview each language on the canvas before exporting, because a headline that fits in English can overflow its block in German.
Frequently asked questions
Does adding a language duplicate my pages?
No. There is one layout. Each text block simply carries a value per language, so editing the design once updates every locale.
Can I remove a language later?
Yes. Removing a target from the Languages tab drops its translated values and leaves the source untouched.
