Changing backgrounds and gradients

Set a solid, gradient, or image background for a screenshot page in Shotlingo.

The background is the largest area of colour in your screenshot, so it sets the tone before anyone reads a word. It is also the fastest thing to get wrong, because a background that competes with your app UI makes both harder to read.

Set a background

  1. 1 Open the Pages tab in the left sidebar.
  2. 2 Select the page you want to change.
  3. 3 Choose a solid colour, a gradient, or an uploaded image.
  4. 4 For gradients, set the two colour stops and the angle.

Choosing colours

  • Pull the background colour from your app icon or brand palette so the store listing reads as one piece.
  • Keep the contrast between background and headline high. Dark background with light text, or the reverse.
  • Gradients read best when the two stops are close in hue and differ mainly in brightness. Two unrelated hues look dated.
  • Vary the background subtly across pages rather than using a different colour on every one, so the set still reads as a series.

Removing a background from an image

If you have placed a product photo or a logo with an unwanted backdrop, the background removal tool cuts it out for you. The number of removals available per day depends on your plan.
