Working with layers
Reorder, rename, lock, and hide objects on a Shotlingo screenshot page.
Every object you add to a page sits in a stack. The Layers tab shows that stack, top object first, and lets you work with objects that are hidden behind something else on the canvas.
Reorder objects
- 1 Open the Layers tab in the left sidebar.
- 2 Drag a layer up to bring it forward, or down to send it back.
- 3 Select a layer to select that object on the canvas, even if another object covers it.
A stacking order that works
From back to front: background, decorative shapes, device frame, screenshot inside the frame, then headline text on top. Text almost always belongs at the front, because anything drawn over it makes it unreadable.
Locking and hiding
- Lock a layer once you are happy with it, so a stray drag on the canvas cannot move it.
- Hide a layer to compare two versions of a page without deleting either.
Hidden layers are excluded from the export, so a page you forgot to unhide will export without that object.
