Adding and editing text

Text is the part of a screenshot set that does the selling. The device frame shows what your app looks like; the headline explains why it matters.

Add a text block

1. 1 Open the Text tab in the left sidebar.
2. 2 Select a heading or body style to place it on the canvas.
3. 3 Double-click the block on the canvas to type your copy.
4. 4 Open Typography in the right panel to set font, size, weight, letter spacing, and alignment.

Writing headlines that survive translation

• Keep headlines to three to five words. German and Finnish routinely run 30 percent longer than English, and a long English headline will overflow once translated.
• Lead with the benefit, not the feature name.
• Use one idea per screenshot. Two competing messages read as neither.
• Avoid idioms. They translate badly and machine translation will render them literally.

Keeping text readable

Set your headline large enough to read in the store carousel, where the image is displayed far smaller than you are editing it. If your text sits over a busy image, add a subtle shadow from the Effects tab rather than reducing the font size.
